What You Absolutely Must Look at Before Selling Your RV on The Internet
Don't Allow Your Personal Information to be Sold to Others, Even For a Free RV Listing
As with any website to which you provide personal information, BE CAREFUL TO READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE AND THE PRIVACY POLICY BEFORE SUBMITTING ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION, EVEN IF YOU’RE NOT PROVIDING CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.
How will the website make use of your information? Will it be transmitted to third parties to be included on e-mailing lists, or otherwise made available to third parties?
Beware of giving any information to a website that does not have a privacy policy, or that has one that does not prohibit giving information to third parties. Also, if the policy allows the sharing of information with "partners" or a similar term, there should be an opportunity for you to "opt out" of the sharing of such information. Some websites have dozens or more "partners"; many of which are completely unrelated to the business of the original website.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE CONCERNED? You don't want to inadvertently agree to allowing your personal information to be sold by a website owner to third parties. Selling personal information can be a great source of revenue for some website owners. As with any website with whom you might provide personal information, make sure that they are reputable.
